At Jupiter’s south pole, five storms hold a pattern no weather should hold. Aboard the research vessel Pelagia, signals physicist Dr. Ilse Varga traces the radio bursts that keep time with the storms. In them she finds a figure from the oldest human images, though no one on Earth could ever have seen this pole. Then her crewmates start keeping time.
